Men are confusing creatures....So, I had a sit down with a few men I know to ask what they really mean when they say certain things. Here is what they had to say.
What he says: "I think we should just be friends"
What he means: "I am really not into you, but I am going to let you down easy in case I want sex"
What he says: "Let's see how things go" (When discussing a committed relationship)
What he means: "I don't want to see other people, necessarily, but I don't know if I want a relationship like that yet.
What he says: "Maybe we should see other people"
What he means: "I am thinking about cheating" or "I am already seeing other people"
What he says: "I love you but I'm not IN love with you"
What he means: Depends on the context....
(new relationship): "I don't want to say I have feelings for you, but I am not quite at that stage yet" or "I have feelings for you, but I am afraid of rejection"
(After he has already said he loves you): "sorry, I am just not feeling it as much anymore, but I am still here to see if we can repair it....or at least have a little more sex"
What he says: "I love you" (druing sex or otherwise very intimate experience)
What he means: "I love this experience with you. I may not be in love with you, but damn this sex is PHENOMENAL"
What he says: "Let's slow things down"
What he means: "I want more substance, so the sex really needs to start taking a back seat" OR :I am jusr really trying to slow it down so you don't realize I am actually sneaking out of your life completely"
What he says: "why do girls _____?"
What he means: "You do this....STOP" OR "The other girl I am interested in does this"
